MacBook Pro 16 with Radeon Pro 5600M after liquid damage

Radeon Pro 5600M graphics chip on a MacBook Pro 16 logic board

Just look at this view! The impressive chip in the photo is a Radeon Pro 5600M graphics card with HBM2 memory. It’s a rarity — this model is a true design one-off. This isn’t an ordinary 2019 MacBook Pro 16: because of the powerful graphics, Apple used a redesigned logic board and a modified cooling system, quite different from the standard A2141.

This advanced electronics suffered from liquid damage. There was a lot to do: apart from repairing the logic board, the computer was taken apart down to the last screw. Every component, including every single key, was removed and cleaned. The result? The machine was restored to a state where no trace of the spill is left.

A short note on Intel MacBooks: you often read online that they are obsolete and only Apple silicon counts. Nothing could be further from the truth! These are still professional machines with impressive performance. Keeping them in good shape is common sense and saves a lot of money. Don’t write off your “Intel” just because a newer model came out. If you own one, look after it and have it serviced regularly — repairing them is fully justified and lets you use them for years to come.
