2011 MacBook Pro 15 and the graphics chip fault

Back after a “short” break from posting 😅 A 2011 MacBook Pro 15 and a veeery common graphics chip fault.

The most common symptoms are the system failing to load and a pink or green tint on the screen with visible distortion.

The repair disables the dedicated graphics chip completely, so the computer uses only the integrated graphics. As the photo shows, modifying the logic board for this takes a bit of gymnastics — and there are two ways to do it: the proper way, or the way “they” do it… 😜
